About This Book:

We took some prisoners and tied them up on the airstrip and left them out in the sun to die. Then we tied some up, put them in a DC3 and pushed them out of the door.

This is the terrifying true story of international assassin Carlos Evertsz as he ricocheted between the high life in London, Madrid and the island paradise of the Dominican Republic – and some of the world’s most horrific jails.

It is the complete dossier of an agent licensed to kill and who doesn’t hesitate to unflinchingly state his own record of shocking atrocities. Written by the journalist who knew him best – even ending up on the assassin’s hit list a few times himself – the story is as gripping as it is unbelievable.

Also part of Evertsz’s weird world is Dr Manuel Sosa, a demonic intelligence chief with a taste for orgies, torture, blackmail, voodoo and murder. It’s a scene you will find stranger than fiction – but remember as you read, it is all true.

A SNEAK PEEK INSIDE:

“I don’t think my life has been so extraordinary. It’s just been my life, it’s been routine to me. I’ve never had any other kind of life. I just think that I’ve been well trained to do what I had to do. I’m an operator, a liquidator just doing his job. To me, it’s just a way of making a living. Some people learn a trade, well this is my trade.

WHAT READERS ARE SAYING:

Don’t expect your average true crime book about a hitman paid to wipe out gangland rivals . This is more of a political venture into the murky history of the Dominican Republic - a place few know about , or even where the hell it is - and it sure ain’t written by Thomas Cook. Oddly enough , half of the book isn’t even about the main character (as he ends up out of harm’s way , in a Spanish jail, long story) , but the sadistic , megalomaniac cravings of Dominican Republic’s ex leader , and especially eventual intelligence chief Dr. Rosa . He - like the assassin himself - is completely dehumanised , and like Queenie from Blackadder , tends to wake up one morning and decide - often for the flimsiest of reasons - certain people must be got rid of. His main bugbears were communists closely followed by journalists and people who know too much or ask too many questions . Several truly sickening acts are described within . Pro-Castro/Cuban Political prisoners were set alight then put out and set alight again by the assassin and his fellow henchmen. PA systems were rigged up in torture cells so the next ones in could hear the screams that awaited them. Meanwhile bombs are planted by the regime who then announce it was `the work of the communists’ to lose them support. The government is eventually overthrown but the new leader does not learn any lessons and allows one of the old guard, Dr Rosa , to become intelligence chief. It’s almost like the old days as he orders hits on anyone vaguely left wing (“communists!!”) and even one of his own men who asks for time off and money to visit his family! A woman who dares to enquire about her missing (“disappeared” perhaps a better word) is roughed up and taken to a cell where she is held down and brutally raped by a lesbian guard. And needless to say where opportunities exist for ‘dead commies’ the CIA are never far away, giving secret backing to the atrocities . Thankfully one of Dr Rosa’s high ranking staff has some morals and exposes his reign of terror , before taking exile in Venezuela. If that’s spoiled for you I assure you that is only the half of it. A disturbing lesson on what happens when fascists are allowed positions of power , and another black mark on the history of America for aiding this evil regime.” 5★ Amazon review

The book begins with a focus on the story of a dangerous, yet at times charming, criminal in the employ of governments. It then strays to include the stories of other people, many of whom are quite sinister, with a connection to the main person, Evertsz. The book tells a dark, true tale of the “intelligence world” that is filled with ironic events and often punctuated by dark humor. This book will open your eyes!” 5★ Amazon review
